The Global Sexual Revolution
Destruction Of Freedom In The Name Of Freedom
by Gabriele Kuby
Angelico Press

Pope Benedict XVI describes the author of this truly remarkable work as a "brave warrior against ideologies that will ultimately result in the destruction of man". The book describes the manner in which the secularists are destroying the family by promoting their version of freedom, a freedom at variance with Christian liberty. This helps explain why individuals who attempt to promote values that were once considered the norm are being persecuted. The secularists want to criminalize those who oppose their agenda, all in the name of "freedom".

The family was able to withstand the onslaughts of Marxism and Nazism but is collapsing under the spell of what one speaker at the recent Synod on the Family referred to as cultural Marxism. "Gender Mainstreaming" is being encouraged and terms such as "father" and "mother" are being discarded. Kuby argues that this will inevitably have a negative impact on the family, on children and on society. When our identities as male and female are discarded, the sexual order will collapse. To help facilitate this collapse, children are being taught that all kinds of sexual orientations are equally valid.
In his Forward to the book, the great philosopher Robert Spaemann notes that the concept of political freedom was conceived in ancient Greece in order to allow people to live according to their custom. The tyrant was the one who imposed his views on others. In a certain sense, we may say that we are living under a secularist dictatorship.

The trailblazers of the sexual revolution are discussed. They include Margaret Sanger, Alfred Kinsey, Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Wilhelm Reich, Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and Simone de Beauvoir. The Club of Rome, which has had a certain negative impact on the Church of Rome, is mentioned as is the enormously influential Frankfurt School, whose members include Theodor Adorno, Herbert Marcuse and Max Horkheimer.

Population control is discussed in some detail. Kuby notes that in May 2009, some of the richest men in the world, including Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, George Soros, David Rockefeller and Michael Bloomberg met in New York to discuss the best means of ridding the world of poverty. One means put forward was the promotion of "reproductive health services" and for this purpose, they founded the Good Club!

So we see a new totalitarianism developing under the guise of freedom. Thanks to this excellent work, we have been warned.

I am grateful to the editor of Catholic Medical Quarterly for permision to reproduce the above review which will appear in a forthcoming issue.
