The War to Destroy Christian America by David Horowitz Humanix Books In this book, Horowitz, an agnostic Jew, defends Christian America and he describes how Christian values are being systematically eroded by the cultural Marxists of the American Left. In order to describe how this has happened, he goes back to the 1962 Supreme Court case Engel v Vitale. This case led to the judgment that there is no place for prayer in state schools. The judgment was based on a complete misunderstanding of what the Founding Fathers intended by separation of church and state. For them, it simply meant that Christian America should not favour one denomination above all the others, akin to the Anglican church in England. But what the Supreme Court decided on was a radical severance between religion and the public square. Only one thing could possibly fill the gap and that was secularism. It was thus only a matter of time before abortion and same sex marriage was to be legalised. And, as the author demonstrates, that was precisely what happened: the Democratic convention of 1968 was taken over by radicals. The radicals now run the Democratic Party. That is why it is impossible to be a pro-life Democrat and climb the greasy pole. But the cultural Marxists are not simply asking to be left alone. They want to impose their set of beliefs by means of suppressing free speech. Their plan has always been to fill the courts with left-wing ideologues. That is why they go to the courts and not to the people when it comes to issues of public concern like abortion and gay marriage. And once the courts have decided on liberalising abortion laws and legalizing so-called gay marriage, the people will follow. How well they have succeeded. What could the Democrats have done about unwanted pregnancies had they not been hijacked by radicals? They could have given greater support for women who find themselves with crisis pregnancies. They could have improved the adoption process. Instead, they campaign for abortion on demand up to birth. The cultural Marxists have moved on. Abortion is no longer to be considered an unfortunate necessity. Instead, it is something to be celebrated. One thinks here of the people of Ireland who rejoiced when abortion was legalised in that country. Horowitz argues that the people behind the gay rights revolution are not satisfied merely with enabling people with same-sex attraction to be left alone. They want to impose their ideology on society and they do so by trying to destroy traditional Christianity. President Obama, faithful disciple of Saul Alinsky, knew exactly what he was doing. First say yes to civil unions and no to gay marriage. And then, thanks to transformation by osmosis, say yes to gay marriage. The aim is to throw the word "God" out from the official platforms. Once again, Horowitz has warned us. The disciples of the far-left sixties radicals, seemingly in complete charge of the Democrats, do not want tolerance and diversity. They want to push forward with their own ideology. And they will do so by aiming to completely destroy Christian civilization.
