Reviews by Dr Pravin Thevathasan
While we are presented with a brief description of the apparitions, the authors also detail some of the most important aspects of the message: the Rosary, the First Five Saturdays, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. offering up our daily sacrifices for the conversion of sinners beginning with ourselves etc. The Church has accepted and promoted devotion to Our Lady of Fatima because the core message is that of the Gospel: to repent and believe. Never before has the Church accepted an apparition to such an extent which has been granted to very young children. But the Church has not merely approved of Fatima but has actively promoted it. Devotion to Our Lady is a certain means of overcoming the world, the sins of the flesh and the malicious snares of the devil. After a description of the apparitions, there are a variety of helpful Fatima prayers including prayers for the Canonisation of Jacinta and Francisco and for the Beatification of Sr Lucia. There are brief meditations on the mysteries of the Rosary and acts of consecration to Our Lady. The prayers Our Lady gave at Fatima are of course presented. Given the brevity of the work, it is appropriate for some of the more controversial elements to be omitted. This is an excellent introduction and overview to what is surely the single most important apparition of our age.
