The gruesome details are everywhere and so requires little comment. Is it even possible for him to do what is claimed while robed in liturgical vestments following High Mass? The psychological profile of the alleged behaviour is all wrong. A person who undertakes the high risk behaviour that is alleged is very unlikely not to be a repeat offender. More typically, the clergy sex abuser grooms his victim. He befriends the family etc. It is all carefully planned. Ultimately, it is the word of one alleged victim against the word of Pell. The alleged victim admits to having been under the effects of alcohol at the time. Australia is a dangerous place for priests unless they are prepared to wear T-shirts, sing popular ditties and wave rainbow flags. Priests planning to go there should read the lives of the martyrs.
