Edward Short is the author, most recently, of Newman and History (Gracewing, 2017), which takes up, among other matters, the nature of Newman's lifelong campaign against
rationalist liberalism. He is also the author of two other highly acclaimed studies of Blessed John Henry Cardinal
Newman, both published by Bloomsbury, Newman and his Contemporaries
(2011) and Newman and his Family (2013).
In addition to his work on Newman, Mr. Short is the author of Culture and Abortion (Gracewing, 2013), a groundbreaking study of the ways in which the barbarous practice of abortion vitiates
our culture. as well as Adventures in the Book Pages: Essays and Reviews (2015), which the Catholic Herald called "wise,"
"witty" and "entertaining."
Currently, Mr. Short is at work on the third volume of his Newman trilogy for Bloomsbury, entitled Newman and his Critics.
In addition to his books, Mr. Short writes for a number of periodicals, including Literary
Review, City Journal, The Weekly Standard, The New Criterion, Catholic World Report, Human
Life Review, and Faith Magazine.
He lives in New York with his wife and two young children.
